Meet the winemaker –
Rob Cameron of Invivo Wines
Invivo burst onto the world wine scene with their very first
vintage of Invivo Sauvignon Blanc in 2008. We’ve loved it since the very
beginning and are proud to have been the first wine merchant to introduce
Invivo to UK drinkers. Mimi caught up with winemaker Rob Cameron to find out
more…
It’s over 10 years since we first started working with
you with the very first vintage of Invivo. What are you most proud of in the
last decade?
We are extremely proud that after 11 vintages we are
still growing, still having fun making great wines and sharing our story and
passion with more and more people. We recall fondly our first meeting with
the Avery’s team in Bristol 10 years ago and the amazing response our wines
received, its been a fantastic partnership ever since!
Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has become a worldwide
wine phenomenon. Why do think that is?
There is just nowhere else on the planet that can produce
that unique combination of vibrant tropical flavours with great mouthfeel and
crisp acidity. It works so well in so many settings and occasions. It’s a
fun wine with lots of personality but very easy to understand and love. Long
may it continue!
There are lots of Marlborough Sauvignons for customers
to choose from. What makes yours different?
Well, we make it of course! Our Sauvignon Blanc is
super tropical but with more weight and generosity in the palate than
many. It’s a big, bold but sophisticated wine that’s not rushed in its
making and so ages really well.
What’s New Zealand’s (or Invivo’s) next big thing?
Well that would be telling but as far as we’re concerned,
we will be continuing to challenge the status quo, have fun and not take wine
(or life) too seriously!!
