Rhône 2013 En Primeur at the Bristol Cellars - 19th March, 2015

Thank you to everyone who turned out for our Rhône 2013 En Primeur tasting at the cellars. It was a lovely night, full of great wines from the Rhône Valley. We had over 30 wines on show highlighting some of the grand regions of the Rhône , including Cornas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu.

The stand out wines for me were the wines Les Vins de Vienne, ‘La Chambee’ from Condrieu (no. 5) and Domaine de Beaurenard, ‘Boisrenard’ from Chateauneuf-du-Pape (no. 19).
The Condrieu was already beautifully impressive with rich stone fruit aromas, a hint of spice and a full palate finishing with a slight honey texture – not everyday drinking at £160 per 6 (ex duty and VAT) but great for a special treat and for something a little bit different. A new producer for us at Averys, Domaine de Beaurenard, displayed a great complex aroma from their Boisrenard with intense and ripe dark fruits which was already quite approachable. Maybe not one to hold on to for a very long time like some other CNDP, but is that such a bad thing!?

A big thank you to our suppliers who were also able to join us for the tasting, Anthony Davis from Chapoutier and Hugo Levingston from Domaine de Mourchon.

Join us at our next En Primeur tasting, Bordeaux 2014 on Thursday 14th May at 5.30pm. Tickets are still available at £20 per person. Either call 0117 921 41 46 or go online to www.averys.com/events to get your tickets now.

Cheers,
Frank Mason
